Introduction

This web quest is designed to get ideas about finding the perfect holiday destinations. During this project we will come across different kind of holidays. The students will have to do a PowerPoint presentation about a holiday destination of their own choice. The students need to do their PowerPoint presentations in groups of three and should contain lots of information and pictures.

Learners

This web quest is designed for students at the (onderbouw) vmbo-havo level. This webquest could also be used at a higher level, but without copying from resources but using their own words and input. This webquest appeals to everyone, because it’s an accurate subject.

Curriculum Standards

Students are able to find the required information on the Internet. They have to find all the information and the required information  in English. It is not a difficult topic, so the PowerPoint presentation should be creative. The aim is that the students can make a PowerPoint presentation in English. Students must form groups of three.

Each group member should finish his/her own part during this process. After the students have shared their parts equally they are obliged to find the required information on Internet. It is a group project so they should be aware that they have to work in groups and share their problems whenever there is.

Process:

Lesson    1:  Forming groups of three. Decide your holiday spot and hand this in.

Lesson 2/3:  Find information about(the):

1-Your holiday destination (add a map of the city/country)

2-Sightseeing’s (add pictures)

3-Climate

4-Food

5-Culture

6-Spoken language

7-A hotel (add pictures)

Lesson4/5:Start creating your PowerPoint presentation.  Don’t forget to start your PowerPoint with a title, a picture, and include your names and also you have to mention the resources you have used.

Lesson 6/7: Presenting your PowerPoint. Each group has 15 minutes to present their PowerPoint.

Before the students present their PowerPoint in class they have to send their product to their teacher, so that the teacher can check if there are any spelling mistakes to be corrected.

Students can collect information and ask help whenever they are in the computer lab. We will spend two hours in the week in the skills/computer-lab and they have to complete their powerpoint in 5 lessons and in lesson 6 and 7 they have to present their powerpoint presentation..

Resources Needed

The students can use the links on the student’s page to find information. They are also allowed to find information on other sites or by the use of magazines, books etc. We motivate the students to be creative, so all the information from their sources is welcome. But they have to mention which resources they have used.

Evaluation

They have 5 weeks to complete the PowerPoint. So they have a lot of time. The students will be evaluated according to the Lay-out, Language, Creativity, and to the Information the students can score 3 points in the section good. For sufficient they can score 2 points and 1 point whenever it is Insufficient.To calculate the grade, they have to multiply the outcome by 7.

Conclusion

It is important for the teacher to check if the given aim is reached, by checking their PowerPoint’s and presentations. They need to include the obliged items and follow the steps. Each creative idea of the students will be rewarded by extra points.
